This year, the Biathlon World Cup will be held in Ruhpolding for the 44th time - continuing a long and successful tradition.
The performance density of the athletes is so enormous that even the smallest mistake can make the difference between winning and placing. It is therefore a particular pleasure to see and cheer on a reinvigorated German team, especially in the witches' cauldron of the Chiemgau Arena. The unique proximity to the athletes at the shooting range and on the course makes the World Cup a special experience.
Over the last few weeks, our organization team and the numerous dedicated helpers have been faced with special challenges. Each and every one of them has made an enormous contribution to ensuring that the World Cup runs smoothly - and that makes me very proud!
On behalf of the organizing committee and the Chiemgau Arena GmbH, we would like to thank everyone involved in the World Cup and we are all looking forward to a great atmosphere in the village and exciting and fair competitions.

Welcome to this year's Biathlon World Cup in Ruhpolding
For 45 years, first-class competitions have been held here in the Chiemgau region, offering great sport and attracting international attention. But what makes the biathlon week in Ruhpolding so special is always the extraordinary atmosphere: the togetherness of the large biathlon family from all over the world, the atmosphere in the Chiemgau Arena and the hospitality of the people of Chiemgau. I am delighted to be the patron of these special competitions.
My special greetings go to the athletes and their support staff, whom I wish exciting and fair competitions. Please feel welcome in Ruhpolding and the entire region and experience the unique atmosphere with which the spectators will carry you along the course and through the arena!
I would also like to combine my greetings with a big "thank you" to the many helpers who ensure that the competitions run smoothly both in front of and behind the scenes. We in Bavaria are characterized by the fact that many people are willing to do more for the community. This also includes, for example, taking time off and investing their days off so that the biathletes have an optimally prepared competition arena and the Chiemgau can present itself as hospitably as usual.

As the mayor of Ruhpolding, it is a special joy for me to welcome all of you to this outstanding sporting event, which has a great significance not only for our region but also for the world of biathlon. Ruhpolding, surrounded by its breathtaking nature and a rich history, takes pride in being the host of the Biathlon World Cup. This event, bringing together the best biathletes from around the globe, will undoubtedly provide an unforgettable experience for athletes and spectators alike.
Our region has a long tradition in hosting biathlon competitions and it is an honor for us to continue and foster this tradition. The challenging slopes, clear air, and the captivating silhouette of the Bavarian Alps create the perfect stage for thrilling competitions and athletic excellence.
I also want to express a heartfelt thank you to all the volunteers and organizers whose tireless efforts and dedication have made this Biathlon World Cup possible. Their work behind the scenes is often invisible, but without them, an event of this magnitude and importance would not be achievable.
The Biathlon World Cup 2024 in Ruhpolding should not only generate athletic achievements but also reflect the joy of coming together, competition and fair play. It may also build bridges between nations and remind us that sports is a language that connects us all.
