Sustainable travel to the BMW IBU Biathlon World Cup 2026 in Ruhpolding

Free travel to and from the event with BRB for all ticket holders

Thursday, November 27, 2025 - 10:00

The BMW IBU Biathlon World Cup 2026 in Ruhpolding is not only focused on top athletic performance—the event is also sending a clear message when it comes to sustainability. Once again this year, all spectators will benefit from a climate-friendly mobility solution: travel to and from the event with Bayerische Regiobahn (BRB) is included in the admission ticket and is therefore free of charge!

New this year is the expansion of the offer: while the Traunstein–Ruhpolding section has already been free of charge in previous years, the ticket now also includes the direct connection (with the RE5) from Munich Central Station to Traunstein. This means that even more visitors can travel comfortably and in an environmentally friendly way.

The expansion of free and environmentally friendly travel is made possible by a support program from the International Biathlon Union (IBU). This program supports innovative and sustainable ideas that reduce the consumption of resources at sporting events and promote innovation in the field of environmental and climate protection. This specifically promotes projects such as the use of public transportation and further strengthens the ecological orientation of the World Cup in Ruhpolding.

“Sustainability is a key issue for us and we want to show our fans that a visit to the biathlon is not only a sporting highlight, but can also be environmentally friendly. By extending free rail travel on the BRB's RE5 from Munich Central Station, we are making a concrete contribution to reducing the CO₂ emissions of our event and making it even easier and more sustainable to visit the World Cup.” – [Timo Gerhold, Managing Director / Head of the Organizing Committee]
