It is with great sadness that we learned of the tragic accident in Pakistan in which our Olympic champion and long-time DSV athlete Laura Dahlmeier died at the age of only 31. Our thoughts are with her family, her friends, and everyone whom Laura inspired and moved with her extraordinary character and athletic ability.
Even after retiring from active competition in 2019, Laura remained loyal to biathlon. She continued to work as a TV expert, supported young talents as a mentor, and actively promoted sustainable and respectful treatment of people and nature.
With Laura's passing, the biathlon family has lost not only an outstanding athlete, but also a wonderful person and a strong woman.
